5 New VD Cards

You hit the motherload today folks! I'm sharing 5 new VD cards with you to help you get going on YOUR sweetie's card. These are all really, really easy and simple. I'm not going to give too much detail because they're that simple. Most of the sentiments on the cards come from Verve Visual's new sentiment set called "Flirty Phrases". There's one card, the kickstand card, that uses a sentiment from SU's So Many Sayings set instead of Flirty Phrases. The swirl heart stamp, which I bought recently, is from Stampendous and is called Ornate Heart. I LOVE it!

Do you see these first two cards? I embossed the heart in both cases with Distress Embossing Powder from Ranger. The jury is still out on this stuff for me. It's easy to use, but it's difficult to tell when you're done heating it up, as it doesn't get shiny and doesn't puff up. You are supposed to emboss it as normal, but after you're done, you let it cool completely and then you rub over it to release crystals and distress it. I don't think that part works so well! Not many "crystals" really released enough to make it look distressed. The texture is very rough, like sandpaper. It definitely takes some getting used to! I used the Walnut Stain Distressing Powder on both of these hearts.

On this card, I cut out a heart, then cut out an arrow and threaded it through the middle of the heart! I sewed around the edges of the paper using both a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch. I just love doing that! The sentiment was stamped directly onto the arrow.

I had fun making another kickstand card! The hearts from Verve's new Heart to Heart make up the "kickstand". The ribbon is a gift I received a while ago from the sweetest girl on earth, Julie Brooks! I've had it sitting in a pretty little basket on my desk for so long now, just waiting for the perfect card to put it on. Finally! It matched this Cosmo Cricket paper called Hey Sugar perfectly! Yippee! The sentiment on the hearts is from SU's So Many Sayings set, which, when I got it, cut up into individual sentiments.

The last card I made is really simple too. I just sewed a bunch of paper layers together, added the heart panel and the sentiment and was done! Everyone can make one of these cards (given you have a sewing machine)!!!! There's nothing fancy or complicated to hold you back.

I hope these cards inspired you to get going on your VD cards! Make something really special for that special guy in your life (or child, or friend, or parent) this year.....he deserves it, doesn't he?

The boys are home today as it's a holiday. I have a business lunch but other than that, it's a stay at home sort of day. I woke up, again, at 5am, after not sleeping so hot last night, so I'm tired. I think a nap is in order later today. It's still freezing cold. I cannot believe the Giants and Packers played in this weather for 3 hours last night. I think it finally took it's toll on Favre. I think near the end, he was really having a hard time focusing, throwing, and giving what was necessary to win the game. It was a great game though. Eldest son was out for awhile last night at a church event, and near the end of the game, he came home bringing two additional teenage friends with him. Boy, did it get crazy here for a while watching the game! Two of the boys were Giant fans, so there was a whole lot of screaming and hollering when the game went into overtime! It was fun to share some special time with these fine young men before they all left for a sleepover at one of the boys homes. I loved having them here!

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Hugs,
Amy
