Scrap Stash Saturday

Today's papers for my Scrap Stash Saturday are some doozies! Colors don't match, patterns don't match, everything is just plain awful together. But you know me, the worse the papers are the happier I am!

Here they are, in all their floral and plaid glory. What are your thoughts? Do you think I was able to come up with something that works? Actually, I sort of really like the look I was able to come up with. It was rough, don't let me fool you. But, in the end, they came together pretty well. The blue floral pattern was the most bold, so I used that as the most visible pattern. I matted it with the black floral paper, leaving a rather area of it showing around the navy. I don't know about you, but my mother always taught me never to pair these two colors together, but in this case, I didn't have a choice.

The plaid paper and green medallian paper were used to paper piece the cake. The green medallian paper is the bottom layer of the cake, and the plaid is the top. I also used the green paper for the scallop circle that is behind the main cake image. As a last resort, I added a plaid strip underneath the main image to bring a little more of the paper into the picture. The sentiment, from Verve Visual's brand new release called Wonderful Wishes (today is the big launch of this stamp set and another one called Starlight Starbright!!!! You MUST go buy yours today!!!) was stamped on Very Vanilla and mounted in the oval hardware. A black gingham ribbon was added to bring in a little more black to compliment the black floral paper. All in all, I'm please with how it turned out!

I want to show you a few cards I've received over the last few months that I've been seriously negligent in sharing with you on my blog. It's amazing what you find if you just clean your desk once in a while! I'm terrible at remembering to do this, shame on me. What ends up happening is that I put them on my desktop, ready to take photos of, and then every single time they get covered up with my freelance work. Every time. I need to just put them right inside my card/photo studio so I see them and remember to take pictures of them right away. I love receiving RAK's, but I'm terrible at sending RAK's out to people, which I want to change immediately. I'm such a hoarder of cards I never want to send them out. That is such a sin, hoarding. I need to stop it quickly and share with others that which God has blessed me with. Do any of you do the same thing? There are some really great RAK'ers out there, and my goal is to become more like YOU!

This one is from Colleen at Distinctive Touches. It was hard to photograph because of the acetate. Just take it from me, this is GORGEOUS! Colleen used shimmery paints and it's stunning IRL. Thanks Colleen!

This card is from the famous Charmaine at Oodabug Alley. She is such a generous, kind soul. She just wanted to let me know she was thinking about me when I was going through my rough stretch (wait, that rough stretch isn't over yet....dang!). It has 10, count them, TEN! layers! Wow, it is uber beautiful! Thank you for thinking of me Charmaine!

This card is from Rose Ann, at Paper Delightz. It is a sympathy card she sent after Doug's mom died. It's so nice to be thought about and prayed for when you are going through a crisis. Rose Ann is a dedicated, consistent commentor on my blog and I great appreciate her support! What I want to know is how she got her scallope edges so PERFECT! Look at the corners, they match perfectly! Thanks so much Rose Ann.

And this final card I'm not so late in acknowledging, but I could have been on top of it a little sooner. I got this last week from Julie Brooks as a thank you for the thank you card I sent her to thank her for the blog candy I won on her blog! Whew, that was a mouthful. Do you think Julie knew this was one of my favorite American Craft papers? I applaud Julie for coloring her bees to match the paper. When I use my bee stamp, I'm so hung up on coloring the bee like a bee should look....black and yellow only! I love how Julie used all the colors in the paper on her little buzzers! Adorable! Thanks Julie!

Hugs,

Amy
