Even though it's been hot, hot, hot here in MN, I still get fall fever this time of year, regardless of the heat. Just the school year getting underway causes it to happen. I start yearning for chicken noodle soup and sweaters! Needless to say, this fever passes over into my stamping, and all my papers change colors!
This designer paper from Paper Salon (whom I just noticed is out of Minneapolis, MN) caught my eye at Archivers one day a few weeks ago. It's called Spice: Floral. Isn't it yummy?
I wanted a simple, easy layout for this card, so I can use it for mass production. All I did was cut a piece of designer paper, layer it onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, and mounted it on a cardbase of So Saffron.
Next, I cut a narrow scallop strip of a coordinating patterned paper also from Paper Salon called Spice: Harlequin Vines. To bring more purple to the card, I cut a very narrow strip of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and sewed it right down the middle on top of my scallop strip. I adhered this scallop strip to the front of the card, pretty much front and center.
For the main image, I stamped one of the flowers from Oh So Lovely, and stamped it two or three times on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I colored the flowers with my aqua painter and Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant ink. I matted the image on a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, and then sewed a straight stitch around the perimeter. It's mounted to the front of the card using dimensional tape. The sentiment is from So Many Sayings, which I cut apart so I have a zillion new sentiments to choose from! I love how this card turned out, the colors are luscious!
Just want to remind you guys to get those stickers out and enter a card into the {Caardvarks} Sticker Shock challenge! The grand prize is amazing! And I know you've all got some of those stickers hanging around your scrap room from way back when stickers were all the rage! No excuses! Get them out and bring them into '07!!!!
Tonight is going to be a very fun night! I am having dinner with some fellow bloggers, most of whom I've never met before. We are getting together in honor of Taylor VanBruggen, who will be in town for the Mall of America Scrapfest which is this weekend! If you can believe it, she's the only person of the group going out tonight that I've actually ever met!!! All the others, including Pegi Taylor (BellaWillow), Paris Otremba (Inky Art), and Kristina Lewis (Balance) I haven't met yet, but have emailed with them a little bit over the past year. Paris actually lives in the same town I live in and we've never met! I am so excited to finally be able to meet these ladies, and of course, I'm excited to see Taylor again. I'll be sure to bring my camera to get some good shots of the group!
Have a great day, and be sure and stop back tomorrow for Scrap Stash Saturday!!!! I'm going to be working on that card today, woo-hoo!
Hugs,
Amy
