Life Goes On

Although I'm not feeling very chatty this morning, I decided I need to stay on top of posting on my blog. It would be easy to run away and stick my head under a rock (trust me, it's what I really want to do), but I don't want to allow myself the option to even consider that, so I'm going to post a little eye candy for you to look at this morning regardless of how I'm feeling.

Life goes on, so they say, even though when you personally suffer something shocking, your life seems to come to a screeching halt while everyone else keeps moving forward like nothing happened! You want to scream out loud "STOP, my life has just fallen apart, can't you see that???????" You want the rest of the world to feel your pain. But realistically speaking, that can't happen. We can't all be plummeting into the depths of despair at the same time, can we? We need some people to remain strong to help lift us up in times of need. And your comments yesterday and today have done just that. Lifted me up in a time of need. Thank you everyone, for your kind words and offers of prayer. I'll take you up on them!!!!

A month or so ago, I saw this adorable little gift bag on SCS that was made by Natasha on SCS (Tashers). I put it into my favorites so I would have the directions to make one for myself some day! Well, I got the chance this past weekend, and this is what I came up with. I changed it up a bit from hers, I used beads and wire for my handles, and added some ribbon too. I just love how it turned out!!! Be sure you go see Tasher's original bag, it is just cute as can be. Thanks Natasha for such a great idea!

I'm going to sign off for now. I've got my leadership meeting this morning. First day with hubby home all day. It will take some getting used to, I'm sure.

Hugs,
Amy

  1. Thinking of you in this time of adjustment. Your comments on how your husband has handled himself during this stress speak so clearly to the quality of man that you have! Can I say that I'm a bit excited for you? God just might be doing something great, I will follow your journey to see how he reveals His goodness to you and your family!

Sorry to hear your bad news. It could happen to any one of us at any given moment as nothing is forever but you have handled it with your own dignity! Big hugs to you! Lisa K

  4. Howdy from Texas. Why oh why do I like others wait until an akward time to post? I should have always been posting to say "hey - i admire your explosion of color! it's so much more than i could do and it brightens my day time and time again" - because on anyday, that would have been an accurate statement! (There's a big 'ole run on sentence for ya!)
Anyway, my heart and prayers go out to you and yours! If your hubby has a hard time finding anything local, Texas is a great state! (But for you and yours, I wish you the best, God's best there!~)

  6. Somehow I missed your post yesterday, so let me share with you how proud I am of you for your courage to share this, and for taking yourself in the right direction in the midst of your feelings. Just because you are feeling shell shocked does NOT mean that your faith is shaken! You proclaimed truth that I can tell you believe, and that is evidence of faith conquering fearful feelings. It will be an up and down thing, but God doesn't ever change, and His everlasting arms are underneath you (Heb. 13:8 and Deut. 33:27). Hugs from GA!

I know I don't know you personally, but know you are in my thoughts & prayers. I believe in the power of prayer, and when one door closes, many, many more open. When I went through my divorce, I could not even imagine raising 2 children by myself, and every day there is another challenge. I hate to hear about your husband, but he sounds like an incredible man, and I hope & pray he finds something soon, and your smile comes back! Hugs, Chris

Bless You! This must be s
SO Incredibly Tough - I can't even imagine! It may be, however, one of God's "unanswered prayers" and turn out to be a huge blessing that couldn't have come about if he were working that job. Keep praying and believing that something Good will come out of all this shock and pain. I'm praying for you!

  12. Your bag is beautiful. Creating something wonderful feels good when the rug has been pulled from beneath one. I know, I've been there. I don't know your Doug, but he sounds special. I'm sure something good will come his way. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm a big fan (silent until today) of your blog. Your artwork is exceptional.

  14. Thanks so much for not hiding out and still posting. I was very touched by your earlier post and had left the comment window open to comment tonight but was not really sure what I wanted to say. I think your situation will be a wonderful testament to God's love and abundant blessings. When all is said and done, it will work out for the best. I was excited to see how your bible study fit in with everything, I love when that happens. THAT is exactly why the Lord left his Holy Spirit with us -- so that we will be able to recognize and appreciate all he does for us. As long as we are quiet and listen for his direction he WILL give it. I have added you to my prayer list. And as a side note, I tagged you on my blog--thought it might give you something silly to think about.

while that little bag is adorable, today my heart is on you, not on the creations you make. Everything good and bad happens on our life plan for a reason. we can't see the whole circle so naturally we are frightened, confused, anxious when things like this happen. it's ok, it's normal. but also trust that this is happening for a reason not yet seen, but still for a reason. trust. it will be ok. you have each other and that is what you started with, each other, all the rest that fell into place were perks. you will survive, you will be ok, and you still have each other.
    you are in my prayers.

Amy, this is beautiful! Could you tell me who makes the sentiment that you used on the bag? I love it.

  18. My husband lost his job on Christmas Eve the year my son was born! Not only did he find another job for more pay, but made contacts with people he was able to start his own company with. A couple of years later he announced we were moving to New Jersey (of all places!) and it's turned out to be a wonderful blessing. That was over 30 years ago, and we've never looked back.

    God is Faithful!

  19. This bag is adorable! What a great idea! And that sentiment is a bold statement and a good reminder of how you must be feeling at this time. Best of luck to you and your family-thought we don't know each other personally, it appears that you have a strong foundation and you will work together-all of you-to pull each other through. You're in my thoughts.

  20. Hang in there Amy! Remember, God gives us mountains so we can learn how to climb! I will pray for your situation. Suggestion...rent and watch the movie "Facing the Giants"...it will truly be an inspiration to you.
    Love and blessings!

  21. Hi Amy,
I want you to know that I am thinking of you at this tough time. You have been through so much this summer and I pray that brighter days are ahead. I don't know what it feels like to have your husband loose his job, but I do know the feeling of Life goes on for everyone else except you. The feeling were very similiar for me when my 5 year old son passed away. You just want everyone in the world to feel your pain if only for 5 minutes and then say they know how you feel. You are a very creative, caring person and I hope that the days to come will bring some happiness to you life.

    Pat :)

  22. Just read your news Amy...sorry to hear about your husband's position. I've been laid off three times, all due to our company being acquired (us poor marketing folks are always the first to go!), and each time it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me! Romans 8:28 - "ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose." Rejoice in that promise! :-)
