A Precious Baby

I made this card for a friend of mine (Hi Dee!) who requested a baby card. I used only scraps, and since I love pink papers, I didn't have any trouble finding something that would work for a girly card. All the edges of each scrap piece was distressed with Distress Ink in Walnut by Ranger. Most of the paper is by Basic Grey, in fact, all of it is except the yellow in the lower right hand corner. I used my new sentiments from the In My Thoughts SU stamp set. In case you're wondering, I cut the sentiment into 2 pieces, "It's the little things that matter most!", and "Congratulations on your new little miracle" and mounted one of the sentiments on the SIDE of the wooden mounting block. Doing it this way makes it easier to have a front of the card sentiment and an inside the card sentiment, and inking it up is SO much easier! I never have much luck trying to ink up a portion of a sentiment without getting the ink somewhere I don't want it! This eliminates that problem.

Yesterday was a great day, and I'm gonna tell you why.....as many of you know, I am in the process of redoing my stamp room. I've purchased a few of the Target organizer cubes, and I've been buying fun glass bottles to store ribbons and buttons in over the last month. The one thing I've found difficult is finding a long enough and wide enough tabletop to put on top of the organizer cubes to make my new stamping desk. After shopping many hours yesterday, I was getting discouraged because I couldn't find anything. I was starting to think this was my sign that I shouldn't be redoing my stamp space. But, much to my utter amazement, the very last place I looked I found what I was looking for!!!!!!! I found white shelving that is 8 feet in length, and 23" deep (plenty of room to work on top of), and it's only $20! How can you beat that? I plan on wrapping the desk around two walls so I have a stamp area and a work area (I freelance out of my home). I am SO relieved I found something. Now I can finally get started bringing this thing to reality. I picked up a sample of paint yesterday, it's probably best described as a very pale lime green! I've got patches of it up on my walls so I can live with it for a few days and see if I like it in all light conditions. So far, so good. I think I'll start packing up the stamps soon so I can get started painting. I'll be sure to post pictures when I'm finished!

  1. How exciting on the new stamping space! Your card is gorgeous.

Is there any way you can darken the text a bit? I'm finding it kinda hard to read your blog. It looks awesome though!

  3. Love your card with the Basic Grey paper! I have some on my way to me now - my first! I got the big collections, and only one 6x6 pad - hopefully that wasn't a mistake not getting more little pads since I'm mainly a cardmaker. Do you know what collections your papers on that card are from?
