I so wanted to be sharing pictures of my new stamp room this morning, but alas, it was not to be. Can I just tell you I am so disappointed in the Target organizer cubes, most notably, the file cabinet? Do NOT buy this cube if you want to stick your SU paper in it. I did, and this morning, it broke. It is just not designed to hold the weight of anything significant. I am at a loss as to what to do because the cubes are in place holding up my desk and to return the cubes to Target I'd have to clean my brand new desk off to take it down to get the cubes out. Even worse, on the second file cabinet I bought, two screws got stripped, so we had to put in some wood putty to try to fix it well enough to get the screws back in. Mind you, we are not morons who don't know how to screw things in. These cubes are made such that it's SO EASY to strip the screw and render the cube useless. This cube is also being used to hold up the desk, so again, the whole desk has to come down to take it back to the store. Two screws were also stripped that hold one of the handles on the front of the cube. Like I said, these things get stripped so easily. What to do? Part of me just wants to leave the cube shell there and put a basket in it's place to store stuff in. The other part of me wants to march right in to Target and let them know how disappointed I am in their product. I desperately need a file cabinet though for my papers. For now, I took a cardboard box file cabinet and threw my paper in there and put that into the cube shell, just so I have someplace to put my papers. It's a tad small though, so not all my paper fits in it. I'll go searching for a bigger box later today. Hopefully I'll find something that will work.
So, take note friends. If you are planning on buying these cubes from Target, PLEASE be very careful putting it together, screws get stripped easily. Secondly, I highly recommend you DO NOT buy the file cabinet to store heavy SU paper. Maybe I just got a bad batch of file cabinets. That's always a possibility. However, IMHO, I just think this stuff is made very cheaply and it's not meant to last a long time.
I have to go now and consider all my options....if you have any ideas, I'm open to hearing them!

So sorry to hear of your troubles. I did not have any troubles with my cubes and I love them but I can sure relate to your disappointment. Getting your room done and organized is something that will make you happy. I hope that you find a way to work through this and hopefully Target will help you out too. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your cubes! How frustrating! Have you checked out the Store 'n Style cubes? I have 'em and LOVE 'em!! IMHO, they're a much better quality than the Target cubes. I hope you find a wonderful solution 'cause your room is gonna be gorgeous -- love the color of the walls!
ReplyDeleteI had one of my drawers in the 3 drawer cube break & I called the manufacturer directly. They asked the model number, where I bought the product, and shipped me a new drawer. It took 3 weeks but still I got it. They said the part came from China but it was post marked in the states so figure. Just get the 800 number off a box ( model # too) at Target and call them, all they can say is no so if you don't ask, you don't know. I have the same set up but my file cabinet sits on the floor ILO on the 2nd level. It works fine there. Any questions, just ask me.
